Penn College Honors Annual Award Winners


WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College's Athletics Department recognized four student-athletes with its annual awards Tuesday. Jordan Courter and LaQuinn Thompson were recognized as Scholar Athletes of the Year, while Robyn Beddow and Tyler Schoonover were honored as Athletes of the Year.

Thompson, a men's basketball player, was selected as the department's male scholar athlete that represented the institution at the FCFP dinner earlier this year. He is President of SMAC, a Resident's Assistant and volunteers at Fire Tree Place in Williamsport.

Courter, a women's soccer team captain, volunteers at numerous SAAC community service events, is a member of the OT Club and a Dean's List student. Courter also joined Thompson as the institutions representative at the FCFP dinner. She is a two-time All-NEAC selection, a USCAA All-Academic honoree and a NEAC scholar athlete.

Schoonover, of the archery team, had a sensational spring of 2015, He finished first at the Eastern Regionals on his way to a National Outdoor title. He was also a member of the Mixed Bowhunter team that took first at the National Outdoor Championship. A two-time US Archery All-Academic selection, Schoonover has placed first at two events to date this season.

Beddow, a women's soccer captain, finished her record-breaking career last fall with a USCAA Honorable Mention All-American nod and an All-NEAC Second Team selection. Beddow also earned a spot on the USCAA All-Academic team. Beddow finished her career as Penn College's all-time leader in both goals and points.
