Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y. – Senior
Courtney Gernert totaled 10 kills and 21 digs as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team lost 3-1 to Elmira College Tuesday. It was a tight match with the Lady Wildcats leading in the first three sets. In the end, it was Elmira's offense with 57 kills that gave the team the edge. With the loss, Penn College is now 8-14 overall.
The Lady Wildcats had a 5-1 lead in set one before Elmira (5-15) came back to tie it at 12 all and eventually take the set 25-18. Set two went to Penn College as they held off 12 ties to take it 25-22. Elmira came back strong taking set three 25-9 and the Lady Wildcats kept it close in set four but were unable to get a lead losing 25-20.
Also for the team, sophomore
Kaitlyn Klein (Lock Haven) and freshman
Samantha Pogash (Saint Clair) each had seven kills. Pogash also added 14 digs. Freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) had 28 assists and 11 digs and freshman
Felicia Webber (Perry County) notched 10 digs.
Next up, Penn College hosts Valley Forge Christian College on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a 7 p.m. match.
