Penn College SAAC Constitution 

Mission Statement

Penn College SAAC's mission is to provide student-athletes a voice in determining rules, regulations, and policies, that affect the student-athlete's lives on campus and within the NCAA governance structure.  Through this we strive to promote:

  1. Effective communication among the Penn College athletic community including but not limited to: athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, and the surrounding Penn College community.
  2. Positive student-athlete image through involvement in the community.
  3. Communication and support among all athletes in athletic programs at Penn College

Organizational Structure of SAAC

Board

  1. President--the president shall preside over all meetings, delegate duties, call for a vote when warranted, and contact the SAAC Advisor or the Athletic Director for meetings and SAAC needs.  

  1. Vice President--the Vice President shall act as chairperson in the absence of the President and oversee subcommittees that form as a response to the needs of SAAC. The Vice President should be in contact with the head of each committee and alert the SAAC Advisor of potential problems with project completion.  The Vice President will serve as a Student Government Senator At-Large during their term.

  1. Secretary-- the Secretary shall record all minutes of the committee's meetings, is in charge of keeping track of attendance, sending meeting minutes to staff. Chair sub committees.    

  1. Treasurer-the Treasurer shall report all expenses each meeting and assist with various aspects of fundraising. Chair sub committees.  

  1. Public Relations- Public relations will market events, social media coverage, and chair sub committees.  

Membership

Team Representatives

  • A minimum of 2 representatives per sport and a maximum of 3 for teams with a roster size of 30 or more.   

    • Representatives for each men's and women's athletic team will first be opt in and then chosen from coaching staff.  

  • Team representatives are open to everyone on the team and will serve as voting members 

  • Members will serve from fall semester to end of spring semester 

Meetings

  • Frequency 

    • Meetings shall be held once a month and are to be attended by all representatives. If you cannot make a meeting you should notify the SAAC President. 

    • Subcommittees will have additional meetings as needed. 

  • Attendance 

    •  Attendance is mandatory for all members. If unable to attend a meeting, an excuse (practice, game, or class) must be given to the President and Vice President prior to the scheduled meeting. 

    • Attendance will be recorded and reported to coaches and SAAC members. Two (2) unexcused absences will result in removal and selection of a new representative. 

  • Voting Procedures 

    • Decisions shall be made by a simple majority vote of the present members. 

    • Decisions shall be made by a simple majority vote of the present members. 

      • If baseball has (3) reps, their vote will count as (1). 

    • This constitution may be amended by two-thirds vote of the total membership of the committee. 

    • If there should be a tie, the following procedure will take place 

      • Revote  

      • Advisor will make a final vote
