Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior
Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) recorded 19 digs to cross the 1,000 career dig mark as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team swept University of Valley Forge 3-0 Thursday night. Gernert stands at 1,001 digs in her four-year career putting her as the all-time digs leader for the Penn College volleyball program. Gernert also led all players with 19 kills as the team improves to 9-14 overall with the win.
The Lady Wildcats cruised through the match winning the three sets 25-13, 25-11, 25-16. Set two was the team's strongest offensively as they recorded 17 total kills.
Freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) notched 34 assists in the game and added 17 digs. Freshman
Kaitlyn Young (Harrisonburg, Va.) was also in double-figures with 10 digs.
The night also marked the last home match for the 2014 season as the team honored its graduating seniors Gernert and
Kaitlyn Klein (Lock Haven).
Klein finished the night with six kills and four digs.
Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Berks for the final North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover on Saturday, Oct. 18.
