Box Score 2 ABINGTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team wrapped up the second North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover weekend with a split losing 3-0 to conference leader Gallaudet University and downing Bryn Athyn College 3-1. With the split, the team is now 7-13 overall and 3-6 in conference.
Against Gallaudet, the Lady Wildcats were slow to get started and got stronger as the game progressed losing 25-9, 25-19, 27-25. Freshman
Samantha Pogash (St. Clair) led the team with nine kills while senior
Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) led with 10 digs.
As a team, Penn College totaled 23 kills with the second set being the team's best with 11. It was Gallaudet that earned the win totaling 44 kills and 45 digs. The team notched double-doubles in every set.
Also for the Lady Wildcats, freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) notched 16 assists.
Against Bryn Athyn, Penn College stumbled only in one set winning 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-13. The team totaled 43 kills with sets three and four totaling 12 kills each. Gernert led the team with 13 kills and sophomore
Kaitlyn Klein (Lock Haven) was right behind her with 12.
Gernert also made 17 digs and freshman
Kaitlyn Young (Harrisonburg, Va.) added 12. Coldsmith totaled 38 assists in the game.
The Lady Wildcats also got it done on the service line totaling 13 aces as a team. Gernert totaled four and Young, Coldsmith and freshman
Felicia Webber (Perry County) each had three.
Next up, Penn College travels to Bryn Athyn College on Thursday, Oct. 9 for a 7 p.m. match.
