Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) notched 10 of her teams 29 kills as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team lost 3-1 to Lycoming College Friday. The Lady Wildcats started off slow losing the first set 25-9, before battling in the next three 14-25, 25-19, 15-25. Freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) notched 17 assists as Penn College opens the season 0-1.
As a team, Penn College totaled 46 digs with Gernert leading the way with 11. Freshman
Kaitlyn Young started her career off strongly with three service aces as did
Samantha Pogash (Saint Clair) who notched seven kills.
In set one, Lycoming came our strong on an 8-0 run before the Lady Wildcats were able to get on the board. After the first set victory though, the game became much tighter with neither team getting a large lead. The Lady Wildcats took leads in the remaining three sets.
Next up, Penn College hosts Wilkes University and Baptist Bible College, along with Lycoming for a quad match on Saturday, Aug. 30 starting at 10 a.m.
