Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team notched its first win of the season 3-0 against Baptist Bible College Saturday. The sweep was the final match of the day as the team hosted Wilkes University and Lycoming College along with Baptist Bible in a quad match. Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) led the team with 26 kills between the two games while freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) had 53 assists.
In the opener against Wilkes (1-0), the Lady Wildcats were in it the entire game with multiple lead changes ensuing. Timely kills and some unforced errors allowed Wilkes to take the first two sets 25-17, 25-19. In set three, the Lady Wildcats put together 14 kills to take it 25-19. It took 26 points in set four for Wilkes to win the match.
Gernert led with 16 kills and 17 digs while freshman
Samantha Pogash (Saint Clair) notched 11. Coldsmith was on point with 35 assists and junior
Loralee Lindemuth (Tidioute) recorded three blocks at the net.
As a team, the Lady Wildcats tallied 43 kills.
Against Baptist Bible (0-3), Gernert again led, this time with 10 kills while Pogash totaled six and added 21 digs to the mix. In another tight match, Penn College just edged out the Defenders 25-22, 30-28 and 25-22. In total, there were 12 lead changes and 24 ties in the match.
Also for the Lady Wildcats, Coldsmith notched 18 assists and freshman
Kaitlyn Young (Harrisonburg, Va.) led the team with 26 digs.
In other games on the day at Penn College, Lycoming swept Baptist Bible 3-0 and defeated Wilkes 3-1. Wilkes won over Baptist Bible 3-0.
