Samantha Pogash (Saint Clair) led the team in digs with seven as Penn College now drops to 4-3 overall.
Alfred (9-2) came out on a 4-0 run in the first set. The Lady Wildcats were able to even it out at seven thanks to some timely kills and opponent errors. Alfred totaled nine kills in the set and ended on a run to take it on a nine-point advantage.
Penn College was up in set two by five points before committing some mental errors on the court to allow the Pioneers to tie it at 17 before eventually taking the set. Penn College was unable to notch any kills in set three going down again by nine points.
As a team, the Lady Wildcats totaled seven kills with Gernert, Pogash and freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) each recording two.
Next up, Penn College travels Wells College for a conference quad match starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
