Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball traveled across town Friday for day one of the Lycoming College Classic. The team took on Misericordia University and Montclair State losing 3-0 in both matches. Senior
Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) recorded 16 kills between the two matches and 27 digs while freshman
Sophie Coldsmith (Gettysburg) had 46 assists. With the losses, Penn College is now 6-7 overall.
Against Misericordia, Penn College played a strong first set just losing 25-22 and totaling nine kills. The Cougars stepped up their game in the next two sets to take the sweep 25-17 and 25-15.
Gernert led with five kills and 11 digs. Coldsmith notched 15 assists.
The Lady Wildcats bounced back and played well against Montclair State in the second game of the night. After losing set one 25-13, they took the next two sets in extra points just being edged out 26-24 and 28-26. Set three had a team season high 17 kills.
Gernert totaled 11 kills and 16 digs. Freshman
Samantha Pogash (St. Clair) also added 16 digs and had eight kills. Coldsmith was only four assists shy of her season high assists with 31.
Next up, Penn College heads back to Lycoming for day two of the classic taking on St. Mary's College of Maryland at noon and the host at 2 p.m.
