Amber Savage has been selected as Penn College's head softball coach, the institution announced in September 2025.
In her first season, Savage led the Wildcats to a program-best 34-9 record and its sixth conference championship game in seven seasons. Savage led the Wildcats to their first-ever NCAA tournament victory in school history with a 4-0 shutout against Lebanon Valley in the Alliance, Ohio Region Tournament. Savage helped Mackenzi Tice to United East Pitcher of the Year and first team honors and five other All-Conference selections in Payton Crawford, Taylor Brown, Ryleigh Rinker, Sofia Mileto and Astyn Calaman. Tice, Crawford & Rinker all earned Second Team All-Region IV honors.
Savage spent the past eight years as the Vice President and Head Coach of the Silver Bullets, a highly competitive travel softball organization based in Williamsport. She played competitively for the Silver Bullets as a teen and helped develop the organization into one of the premier travel programs in the region. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Savage managed various aspects of the organization's operations and was heavily involved in the college recruiting process for her players.
Following her impressive scholastic career at Williamsport High School, Savage (then Amber Cowher) had a standout career at Bloomsburg University. She was a four-year starting pitcher and was named the NCAA Rookie of the Year in 2001, as well as the NCAA Regional Most Valuable Player, first team All-PSAC, first team all-region, and NCAA Second Team All-American. She is still listed in all the Huskies career pitching records.
Savage was inducted into the District IV Hall of Fame 2012, West Branch Valley Hall of Fame in 2021, and was a 2023 YWCA Women of Excellence award winner in the sports category for her "remarkable contributions to the development, encouragement and reinforcement of women and girls' participation in sports".
