Men’s Soccer: Dressler PK Good Enough for Win over PSU Berks

Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Christian Dressler (McAlisterville) scored on a penalty kick in the closing seconds of the first half to help the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team defeat Penn State Berks Saturday.  In a game that was hotly contested and had 13 cards issued, both teams had strong opportunities to open it up.  Junior Hector Guerrero (Mexico City, Mexico) recorded the shutout win totaling five saves.  With the victory, Penn College improves to 5-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

Both teams recorded seven shots in the first half.  The game looked to go into the break at a tie, but a foul in the box on Dressler at 44:59 set him up for the penalty kick.  He made quick work shooting it past a diving Kyle Baker.

Baker ended the game with four saves.

In the second, Penn College totaled seven shots to Berks' (1-9-1, 0-5-1 NEAC) six.  Guerrero made two saves to preserve the win.  The Lions looked to have equalized in the 54th but a late offsides call kept the game in favor of Penn College.

Some late tackles and arguing made for a lot of cards in the half that saw three players ejected from the game.

Next up, Penn College hosts King's College on Tuesday, Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. match.
