Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Penn College nearly erased a 21 point second half deficit, with a 20-1 scoring run, but fell short in a 75-68 setback to Penn State-Worthington Scranton in the consolation game of the Pepsi Tip-Tournament hosted by Susquehanna University Saturday. The Nittany Lions improved to 3-1, while the Wildcats fell to 0-3.
Ezra Adams recorded a double-double for Penn College with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Kevin Laurence-El netted a team-high 17 points and grabbed nine boards, and
Antony Griffin added 14 points.
Hasiin Dixon pumped in a game-high 34 points for Penn State and pulled down 11 rebounds. Levert Comas and Jon Devine each added 12 points for the Lions.
Laurence-El scored five of the Wildcats first 15 points to give Penn College a 15-7 lead early in the first half. The Lions answered with a 10-2 scoring run to even the game at 17-17, before ending the half with a 23-9 run to lead 40-26 at the break.
Penn State led by as many as 22 points, 61-39, midway through the second half before the Wildcats went on an impressive 20-1 run to get within three, 62-59, with 6:04 left in the game. Laurence-El and Ezra sparked the run for the Wildcats with six points each and
Bryce Lonsway added five.
The Lions padded their lead to seven, 66-59, with 4:26 left in the game and Penn College got as close as three, 66-63, on a
James Boylan late in the half.
Penn College returns to action Sunday in a NEAC contest at Gallaudet.
