Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Alfred University overcame a slight halftime deficit to edge Penn College 68-61 in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday. The Saxons improved to 3-0, while the Wildcats fell to 0-5.
Kevin Laurence-El scored a game-high 17 points for Penn College and
Thomas Ross added 12.
Cass Wisniewski pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
Jerry Kincell led AU with 15 points, while Tyler Seeiman and Dalton Walsh each added 10. Walsh grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Penn College took an early 6-1 lead at 17:12 after an Adams layup. Alfred rallied to even the game at 8-9 four minutes later before the Wildcats built their lead to five, 13-9, on a
Joseph Mangiero layup with 11:54 left in the opener. The Saxons tied the game for a second time and eventually took a 25-18 advantage with 6:47 left in the first half.
The Wildcats answered with an 11-0 run that was capped by a
Bryce Lonsway trey with 3:40 left. Penn College led 31-28 at halftime.
Alfred quickly evened the game early in second half before the Wildcats took their final lead, 35-33, on an
Ezra Adams jumper at 18:08. The Saxons led by as many nine, 55-46, with 8:46 left in the game but PC was able to get within one, 62-61, on a Ross layup with 3:12 left in the game. The Saxons ended the game with six unanswered points.
Penn College returns to action Dec. 3 hosting Alfred State College at 7 p.m.
