Men's Basketball: Ross Leads Wildcats Against Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Freshman Thomas Ross (Williamsport) totaled 11 points to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team in its 103-60 loss to NCAA Division II Mansfield University Monday. The Wildcats played a strong first half keeping up with the Mounties but lost steam in the second. With the loss, Penn College drops to 0-3 overall.

In the first half, Mansfield (1-2) jumped out to a 6-2 lead before freshman Marquis Delgado (Mansfield) hit a three in the 18th to cut the lead to one. The Wildcats kept it close over the next 10 minutes never letting Mansfield get a lead any bigger than 10.

Delgado finished the game with seven points in front of his hometown crowd.

Going into the break, the Mounties started to capitalize on Penn College turnovers building up their lead and going into halftime up 49-29. They scored 16 points off of turnovers in the half.

For the half, the Wildcats shot 9-29 (.310) from the field and totaled 14 rebounds to Mansfield's 17.

Despite Penn College scoring 31 points in the second half, it was the Mounties that came out strong scoring 54 points in the half.

For the game, the Wildcats shot 23-60 (.383) from the field. Turnovers were an issue as they committed 31 for the game allowing Mansfield to score 36 points.

Also for Penn College, junior James Boylan (Newton, N.J.) led with seven of the team's 35 rebounds.

The last time the two teams met in 2011, Mansfield won 111-47.

Next up, Penn College hosts Williamson Trade in its home opener on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.
