Colleen Bowes (Wayne) made five saves but it wasn't enough as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Morrisville State Saturday. The game was evenly matched with both defenses allowing very few shots. After a scoreless first half, it took Morrisville only four minutes to break the stalemate. With the loss, Penn College falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference while Morrisville State improves to 3-2 and 1-2 respectively.
It was a tight first half with only seven shots fired between the two teams. Penn College was the stronger side notching five of those. The team had plenty of opportunities with six corner kicks in the half. Bowes and Morrisville State keeper Angela Marriott each recorded a save in the period.
Amber Welsh put the Mustangs on the board out of halftime in the 49
th taking a rebound off Bowes. Jasmine Wynter made it 2-0 in the 61
st beating the defense on a break.
Morrisville State totaled nine shots to the Lady Wildcats' five in the half.
Next up, Penn College hosts Cazenovia College on Sunday, Sept. 14 for a noon match.
