Box Score CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Penn College was outscored by Wilson College 22-16 in overtime and fell to the Phoenix 111-105 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Sunday. The Wildcats dropped to 1-5 NEAC, 2-10 overall, while Wilson improved to 1-2, 2-5.
Kevin Laurence-El and
Nathaniel Brown both scored a season-high 25 points to lead Penn College.
Ezra Adams and
Bryce Lonsway finished with 14 points each and LaQuinn Thompson scored 13 for the Wildcats.
Rasul Jackson led Wilson with a game-high 34 points.
Deadlocked 89-89 at the end of regulation, Wilson jumped ahead in overtime 94-91 before Laurence-El tied the game with a trey with 4:02 left. Rahim Brunch answered with a three for the Phoenix before Lonsway's jumper put the Wildcats within one, 97-96, with 3:12 left in the extra period. Wilson went on a 7-0 run to take a 104-96 lead with 1:57 left and its lead never dipped below five in the final three minutes.
Penn College led the majority of the second half and took its largest lead, 75-67, on a Laurence-El jumper with 7:37 left in the game. Wilson used a 7-0 run to get within one, 75-74, with 5:30 left in the second. The Wildcats held a small lead in the next few minutes until Tyler Smallcomb put Wilson ahead 85-84 with 1:13 on the clock. The teams traded one point leads over the next 12 seconds before Laurence-El connected on 1 of 2 from the line, which gave PCT a 89-87 lead with 26 seconds left. Bunch was fouled with 15 seconds left and sank both free throws to send the game to overtime.
Wilson College led by as many as 13 points, 32-19, with 9:44 left in the first half. Penn College responded with a 15-2 run to even the game at 34-34 with 6:26 left before halftime. Lonsway paced the run with six points, Brown added five and Laurence-El scored four. The Wildcats outscored the Phoenix 14-8 the rest of the half and led 48-42 at halftime.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 8 p.m., hosting Penn State-Abington.
