Box Score UTICA, N.Y. - Penn College fell to SUNYIT 70-58 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Sunday. SUNYIT improved to 5-2 NEAC, 6-9 overall, while PC dropped to 1-9, 2-15.
Ezra Adams paced Penn College with 22 points and
Nathaniel Brown finished with 10.
Thomas Ross netted seven and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Ryan McCarthy scored a game-high 23 points for SUNYIT, Kaleel Johnson added 20 and Maverick Hodge finished with 15.
The opening five minutes of the game featured three ties before a three by Ross and a jumper by
Laquinn Thompson, gave Penn College a 12-7 lead with 13:17 left in the first half. SUNY used a 7-0 surge to take a 14-12 lead before consecutive buckets from Brown put PCT ahead 16-14 with 11:40 before halftime. An Adams trey at 7:01 gave Penn College a 23-19 advantage before the game was eventually tied for the fourth time after
Stephen Alford's three deadlocked the game at 29-29 with 4:24 left in the opener. SUNYIT ended the half with six unanswered points to lead 35-29 at halftime.
A pair of
Marquis Delgado free throws evened the game for the fifth, and final time, with 12:06 left in the game. SUNYIT gave itself separation with a 10-0 scoring run to lead 55-45 with 9:06 left. Penn College never got within eight the remainder of the game.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 8 p.m., hosting Penn State Berks.
