Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College used a strong first half to defeat Penn State Berks 80-68 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 2-9 NEAC, 3-15 overall, while the Lions dropped to 3-12, 3-6.
Thomas Ross pumped in a team-high 14 points for Penn College and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.
Nathaniel Brown finished with 13 points for the Wildcats,
Cass Wisniewski added 12,
James Boylan 11 and
Marquis Delgado 10.
Christian Burggraf led Penn State with a game-high 23 points.
After the Lions took their final lead of the game, 9-6, five minutes into the contest, Penn College exploded on a 16-2 scoring run – led by five points each from Brown and Wisniewski – to take 22-11 lead with 9:58 left before halftime. The Lions pulled within five, 22-17, after six unanswered points but the Wildcats responded with a 10-4 run and led 32-21 after a trey by Wisniewski with 3:30 on the clock. Penn College led 37-26 at the break.
Penn College took its largest lead, 59-28, after a Brown three with 11:51 left in the game. The Lions pulled within eight, 66-58, at 6:02 but Penn College outscored Berks 14-7 the remainder of the game.
Penn College returns to action Feb. 7, 3 p.m., hosting Morrisville State.
