Laurence-El Named NEAC Player of the Week

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College senior Kevin Laurence-El (Milton, Pa.) was named North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week, it was annouced Monday.

The senior forward averaged 26 points and 7 rebounds per game through three contests last week, shooting 53 percent from the field, 50 percent from the 3-point line and 92 percent from the charity stripe to lead the Wildcats to a pair of conference wins. Laurence-El scored at least 25 points in all three contests, including 27 points on 59 percent shooting that included hitting 3-of-5 attempts from downtown in a 71-64 win over Gallaudet Sunday, where he also added four rebounds, two assists and a steal. That came on the heels of a 25-point, 12-rebound, and two-block effort in a 75-71 win over Wilson Saturday. He also finished the weekend's conference games a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line, which followed a 10-for-12 performance from the line against Alfred State earlier in the week en route to finishing that contest with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field in addition to five rebounds and no turnovers. Laurence-El is now second in the conference in points per game with a 22.8 average through six games for the Wildcats.
