BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Joe Kehoe's buzzer-beating three gave Bryn Athyn a 74-73 win over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Lions improved to 5-12 NEAC, 5-19 overall, while the Wildcats dropped to 2-15, 3-21 to end their season.
Stephen Alford led Penn College with 14 points, while
Marquis Delgado and
Thomas Ross both finished with 12 points. Ross also pulled down 12 boards.
Kehoe netted a game-high 22 points for Bryn Athyn.
Penn College broke a 69-69 tie with 4:21 left in the game after two Ross buckets gave the Wildcats a 73-69 lead with 2:49 left in the game. Bryn Athyn made it a two point game, 73-71, with 49 seconds left before Penn College failed at a chance to ice the game with two missed free throws with 25 seconds on the clock, setting up Kehoe's game-winner.
The final minutes were setup after Penn College erased a nine point deficit in the second half, using a 15-6 scoring run to even the game at 67-67 after two Alford free throws.
The opening 10 minutes of the game featured six ties, and twice as many lead changes, before Bryn Athyn took its largest lead, 36-29, with 4:41 left in the first. Penn College pulled within three, 36-33, a minute later and trailed by only two, 41-39, at halftime after LaQuinn Thompson's layup with three seconds left.
