CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Penn College dropped a 93-75 decision to Cazenovia in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. Penn College fell to 3-14 overall, 3-14 NEAC, while Cazenovia improved to 6-13, 2-10.
Jamie Steer led all scorers with a game-high 28 points and grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds.
Alicia Ross added 25 points for Penn College and became only the third person in program history to reach 1,000 career points. She joins Jamie and Kiersten Steer in the 1,000-point club.
Skylar Girard and Autumn Gavin each netted 17 points for Cazenovia, D'Andrea Watson finished with 15 and Kelli Shepardson added 14.
Steer's traditional three-point play early in the game gave Penn College a 6-4 lead before Cazenovia netted 10-straight point to go ahead 14-6 with 5:04 left in the opening quarter.
Marissa Keegan's trey at 3:05 pulled Penn College within one, 14-13, before Cazenovia took a 22-18 lead at the end of the quarter.
Penn College got as close as three, 25-22, on a Steer jumper at 6:55 in the second but couldn't get any closer as Cazenovia went into the break ahead 44-35.
Cazenovia pulled away in the third quarter with a 34 point outburst before Penn College finished the fourth quarter with a 24-15 scoring advantage.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 3 p.m., hosting Wells College.
