CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Penn College split a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games against Cazenovia Saturday. Penn College wrapped up the season at 4-8 NEAC, 13-23 overall after a 13-3 win in game one and a 7-5 setback in the second contest.
Statistics of Saturday's game were unavailable until Sunday as Cazenovia did not provide game files until late Sunday.
In game one,
Penn College jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three runs in the first inning and one in the second and sixth. RBIs by
Taylor Vandegrift,
Connor Doherty and
Richard Lennon provided the runs in the first, while
Jeremy Rall brought in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second and
Cole Weachock plated a run in the sixth.
Cazenovia scored two in the sixth before PCT answered with eight combined runs in the seventh and eighth.
Dylan Scaringi and Rall knocked in runs in the seventh, while
Carlos Rodriguez, Scaringi, Cole Hoffman and Weachock picked up RBIs in the eighth.
Scaringi finished with four hits for PCT, Hoffman and Rall picked up three hits each, and Weachock, Doherty and Rodriguez had a pair of hits.
Cody Nelson improved to 4-3 after six innings on the mound. He allowed two runs (non earned) on six hits, with five strike outs and two walks.
In game two,
Cazenovia scored all of its runs in the second (5 runs) and third (two runs) innings.
Rodriguez plated PCT's first run with a RBI single in the third, Vandegrift plated a run in the fifth, Scarinigi and Hoffman picked up RBIs in the sixth and
Deric Ellerman plated a run in the seventh.
Rall, Rodriguez, Ellerman and
Noah Esposito all picked up two hits for PCT.
Bradley Walter fell to 2-4 after 2.1 innings of work. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits.
Max Bair (2.2 innings) and
Zach Junk (1 inning) closed the game with perfect pitching on no hits and a no walks.
