Box Score ELMIRA, N.Y. – Penn College dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Elmira College in a non-conference women's volleyball match Thursday. The Wildcats fell to 2-6, while the Eagles improved to 1-1.
Penn College lost 25-14, 25-23, 22-25, 15-25, and 12-15.
The Wildcats cruised to a 25-14 win in the first set and used two aces by
Breana Hayward in the final three points of the second set to edge out a 25-23 win.
Following six ties in the opening 16 points of the third set, Elmira pulled away and held off a late Penn College charge. After an easier win the fourth set, Elmira broke a 10-10 deadlock in the fifth with a 5-2 win to end the match.
Penn College returns to action Saturday at the Misericordia Invitational.
