Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Penn College overcame a first half goal – with a tally in the second half – and battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Gwynedd Mercy in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday. The Wildcats improved to 0-1-1, while the Griffins improved to 1-1-1.
The Griffins struck in the 30
th minute when Grace Macnamara scored off a corner kick to give GM a 1-0 lead. The score remained the same until the 60
th minute when
Lauren Herr netted an unassisted goal to even the game at 1-1.
The Wildcats had a few chances in the first overtime to win game but Kailey Hopkins stopped shots by
Hanna Williams and
Hailee Hartman and
Morgan Brooks' shot went wide late.
The Griffins missed several chances in the second overtime as PCT keeper
Colleen Bowes made a save on Lexi Palm in 105
th minute and stopped a Morgan McAndrews attempt in the in 107
th minute.
Bowes finished with nine save and Hopkins stopped 13 shots.
GM edged Penn College in total shots, 18-17 and corner kicks, 5-3.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 12 p.m., hosting Penn State Abington.
