READING, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 73-60 decision to Alvernia University in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday. The Wildcats fell to 2-6, while the Crusaders improved to 9-5.
Erik Eichinger led Penn College with 13 points,
Erik Perry Jr. added 12,
Marquis Delgado chipped in with 11, and
Thomas Ross finished with 10 points.
Jesse White shared game-high honors in rebounds with 11 and Delgado finished with nine boards.
Alex Shipped netted a game-high 20 points, while Marquis Marshall added 15 and Steve Pendleton finished with 11.
Penn College built an early 17-8 led by nine points from Eichinger with 15:29 left in the first half. Alvernia answered with an 18-0 run, spanning nearly nine minutes, and led 26-17 with 6:48 left before the break. The Wildcats got as close as four, 26-22, on an Eichinger layup at 6:00 before the Crusaders led 39-27 at halftime.
Alvernia maintained a double-digit lead for the entire second half, leading by as many as 25.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 4 p.m., at Gallaudet.
