MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville benefited from a timely save, and held off a late Penn College rally, to knock off the Wildcats 2-1 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 6-9 overall, 3-3 NEAC, while the Mustangs improved to 5-7, 4-2.
Penn College put three shots on frame in the first half but attempts from
Chris McFarland,
Casey May, and
Joe Dreese were stopped.
Malcolm Kane turned away two Morrisville shots in the first half to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
Morrisville struck in the 56
th minute to lead 1-0 and added a second goal 11 minutes later to go up 2-0.
Penn College pulled within one in the 83
rd when
Seth Bilbie headed in
Gerry Lua's free kick.
Greg Dorsch had header stopped in the 88
th minute before
Daniel Hibbs had his shot stopped a minute later. Dorsch's rebound attempt with 40 seconds left was cleared off the line by a defender to prevent the equalizer.
Morrisville outshot Penn College 19-18 and held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.
Kane finished with five saves for the Wildcats.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 6 p.m., at Keuka College.
