Mustangs Edge Wildcats

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville benefited from a timely save, and held off a late Penn College rally, to knock off the Wildcats 2-1 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 6-9 overall, 3-3 NEAC, while the Mustangs improved to 5-7, 4-2.

Penn College put three shots on frame in the first half but attempts from Chris McFarland, Casey May, and Joe Dreese were stopped. Malcolm Kane turned away two Morrisville shots in the first half to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

Morrisville struck in the 56th minute to lead 1-0 and added a second goal 11 minutes later to go up 2-0.

Penn College pulled within one in the 83rd when Seth Bilbie headed in Gerry Lua's free kick.

Greg Dorsch had header stopped in the 88th minute before Daniel Hibbs had his shot stopped a minute later. Dorsch's rebound attempt with 40 seconds left was cleared off the line by a defender to prevent the equalizer.

Morrisville outshot Penn College 19-18 and held an 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Kane finished with five saves for the Wildcats.
