ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Abington dealt Penn College a 3-0 setback in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Soccer semifinals Saturday.
Penn College wrapped up its season at 8-12-1, in a year in which the Wildcats reached the NEAC playoffs for the first time in program history and had a player (
Malcolm Kane) named All-NEAC First Team.
Abington struck early in the game when Michael Alber headed in Chris Schlegel's corner kick in the second minute. The Lions went ahead 2-0 in the 20
th minute on a Sebastian Kryztofowicz tally.
Penn College's best chance in the opening period was in the seventh minute when
Seth Bilbie's header was saved.
The Lions added a score in the second half when Schelegel belted a ball off a defender into the back of the net in the 67
th minute to give Abington a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats had one look in the half when
Brandon Wolff's header in the 87
th minute was stopped.
Abington outshot Penn College 21-5 and held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Kane stopped three shots in goal for the Wildcats.
