Wildcats Playoff Run Ends In NEAC Finals

READING, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 4-0 decision to defending NEAC champions Penn State Berks in the North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer finals Sunday. The Wildcats ended their season at 9-8-5, while the Lions won their fifth straight NEAC championship.

Megan Jardine and Melissa Martin scored goals in the first half for Berks to make it 2-0 at halftime. Caitlin Golden found the back of the net in the 50th and 80th minute to give the Lions the 4-0 victory.  Golden was selected as the tournament MVP for her performance during the NEAC playoffs.

Berks finished with 27 shots and nine corners.

Penn College keeper Taylor Gonzalez stopped 15 shots.

Penn College finished the 2017 season with several program records. The Wildcats made their deepest postseason run in the NCAA era, had a record seven players named All-NEAC, senior Hailee Hartman set three new all-time program marks.  Hartman ended her career as the programs all-time leader in goals, assist and points.  Even with the loss of quality players such as Hartman, Jane Herman, and Hanna Williams, the Wildcats young core is poised for another playoff run in 2018.
