First Half Dooms Wildcats Against Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – Wells College used a 50-32 first half to propel itself to an 87-77 win against Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats wrapped up their season at 9-16 overall, 7-13 NEAC (a program record), while the Express improved to 17-8, 14-4.

Ben Sosa scored a game-high 27 points for Penn College, going 6 of 11 from the field and 15 of 18 from the stripe. Erik Perry Jr. added 17, Erik Eichinger finished with 13, and Thomas Ross pumped in 12.
Chris Courtney led the Express with 17 points, Rich Ross added 16, and Vaughdell Brantly chipped in with 12.

Following a pair of free throws from Ben Sosa four minutes into the game to make it 8-7, Wells used a 17-4 run to lead 25-11 with 11:51 before halftime. The Express maintained a double-digit advantage the remainder of the half and led 50-32 at halftime.

Wells took its largest lead of the game, 57-36, with 18:10 left in the game before Penn College answered with 12-5 spurt to make it 62-48 after a pair of Sosa free throws. The Wildcats got as close as 12 the majority of the second half before a Marquis Delgado layup with two seconds left made it a 10 point contest.
