Lancaster, PA – Penn College returned to play Thursday for a pair of North East Athletic Conference games against Lancaster Bible. The Wildcats and Chargers split the two games. The split Penn Colleges record sits at 19-8 overall and 9-3 in the conference.
In Game One,
Penn College picked up a wire-to-wire 6-2 victory over Lancaster Bible in game one behind another strong outing from
Max Bair. Bair gave up only two runs on five hits in a complete game.
The Wildcats started the scoring in the second inning with a
Noah Esposito singled to left to score
Evan Vigna. Penn College tacked on three more runs in the third. Vigna doubled to left to score
Cole Hofmann and Nathian Lowe.
Richard Lennon knocked in the third run of the inning scoring
Brittan Kittle.
Lancaster Bible scored their first run in the bottom of the third with a sac fly.
The Wildcats padded their lead with runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Ben Flicker knocked in the runs in both innings. Flicker had a solo homerun in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth.
Ben Flicker led the offensive charge for the Wildcats with two hits and two RBIs.
Evan Vigna also chipped in with two RBIs and
Noah Esposito added two hits.
In Game Two,
Penn College lost a heart breaker 10-7 when Lancaster Bible scored unearned runs in the eighth inning.
Richard Lennon batted in the game's first run in the second inning. Lancaster Bible answered with Justin Taylor's homerun in the third.
Penn College took the lead again in the fourth inning when Lennon hit a two run homerun to score Vigna. Lancaster Bible took their first lead of the day by scoring two runs in the fifth and a single run in the seventh innings.
The eighth inning proved to be exciting inning with 10 total runs scored. Penn College opened the scoring with a Vigna sac fly. Lennon continued his huge game with another homerun, this time it was three run shot to center. Lancaster answered with six runs of their own in the bottom half. All of Lancaster's run were unearned in the bottom of the eighth.
Lennon had a huge game for Penn College. Lennon had six RBIs, two hits and two homeruns on the day. Flicker and Kittle both had two hits in the game.
Penn College returns to the field Sunday, at home vs Alfred State at 12:30 pm.
