Wildcats Rebound from Berks Setback; Hammer Keuka

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Penn College rebounded from a 13-1 loss against Penn State Berks with a 10-6 win over Keuka College on day one of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Championship at Bucknell University Friday.

The Wildcats will take on the loser of Friday's final game (Abington and Berks) Saturday at or around 11 p.m. Due to the weather forecast, Saturday's schedule is still tentative.

Against Berks,
Eight errors by Penn College's defense spoiled a solid effort from starter Max Bair.

Berks led 3-0 – two unearned -- through the top of the fourth inning before Richard Lennon scored on an error in the fourth inning to make it 4-1.

The Lions added three runs in the seventh and seven in the ninth en route to the win.

Cody Cline led Penn College with two hits, while Bair fell to 5-2 after six innings of work. He allowed one earned run on four hits, with five strikeouts and three walks.

Against Keuka,
Evan Vigna got things going for Penn College when he launched a solo shot to deep center to put the Wildcats ahead 1-0 in the second. Dylan Scaringi later laced a single to left to score Lennon to make it 2-0.

The Wolves evened the game in the fifth with two runs in the top of the frame when Nathaniel Lowe roped a two run triple to left center, scoring Scaringi and Noah Esposito to give Penn College a 4-2 advantage. Cline's single to left in the fifth plated Lowe and put the Wildcats ahead 5-2.

Keuka pulled within one, 5-4, in the top of the sixth but Penn College answered in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch and error to go ahead 7-4. RBIs by Cole Hofmann, Esposito and Brittan Kittle in the seventh and eighth innings gave PCT a 10-4 lead before Keuka tacked on a pair of runs in the ninth.

Cline, Kittle, Vigna, Lennon, and Scaringi all picked up two hits for Penn College.

Bradly Walter improved to 5-2 after seven innings on the mound. He allowed four earned runs on six hits, with two strikeouts and one walk. Devon Sanders fired the final two innings with one earned run, on one hit, one strikeout and no walks.
