READING, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of games Saturday on Day Two of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Championship. The Wildcats fell to 10-2 to Penn State Berks and 9-1 against Cazenvoia.
Penn College wrapped up its season at 21-13. The win total was the best since joining the NEAC and playing Division III competition, while the Wildcats also made team history with their first-ever trip to the NEAC postseason.
Against Berks,
The Nittany Lions jumped out to 5-0 lead through the first two innings with a run in the first and four in the second inning.
Penn College made it 5-2 in the third when
Kassie Winters launched two-run double that scored
Taylor Krow and Lacey Clark.
Berks ended the game in the fifth inning with five runs.
Krow, Winters, and Clark picked up Penn College's three hits of the game.
Amanda Kustanbuater fell to 6-6 after two innings of work. She allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits, with two strikeouts and two walks. Winters threw 2.2 innings in relief, allowing five runs on four hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Against Cazenovia,
Caz jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on a run in the second and two in fourth to take a 7-0 advantage.
Penn College put its lone run on the board in the fourth inning when
Elizabeth Asher's single to center field scored Clark.
Caz finished off the game with a run in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Taylor Brooks fell to 7-3 after pitching a third of an inning. She allowed four runs on no hits, with no strikeouts.
