Wildcats Blank Morrisville; Move Up in NEAC Standings

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College netted two goals in the second half en route to a 2-0 win over Morrisville in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 5-5-1 overall, 5-2 NEAC, while the Mustangs fell to 6-5-1, 5-2.

The win moved Penn College into third place in the NEAC standings, behind Penn State Abington and SUNY Cobleskill, and tied with its Tuesday opponent, Lancaster Bible.

Following a scoreless first half, which saw Penn College take six shots and Morrisville, two, the Wildcats broke the deadlock early in the second half. Matthew Yoder found Ian Smith on one touch and Smith deposited the ball to the lower left corner in the 52nd minute.

Devan Leister added the insurance goal in the 66th minute and ripping Chris McFarland's pass to the upper 90.

Starting defenders: Dylan Snyder, Tanner Layne, Kevin McFarland and Greg Dorsch put up a wall around the goal and allowed just two shots on frame, helping keeper Hunter Gosnell to his third-straight conference shutout.

The Wildcats return to action Tuesday at Lancaster Bible.
