KEUKA, N.Y. – Penn College dropped a 5-0 decision Penn State Berks, the five-time defending North Eastern Athletic Conference championship, in the NEAC semifinals Saturday hosted by Keuka College. The Lions improved to 14-3-2, while the Wildcats finished their season at 12-8.
Berks will head to its seventh straight championship match opposite Keuka on Sunday.
The Lions jumped on the board early when Shelby Baker netted a shot in the second minute off a corner kick. Caitlin Golden scored consecutive goals in the eighth and 13
th minutes to put Berks ahead 3-0 at the break.
Scores in the 54
th and 55
th minutes for Berks made 5-0, while the Lions' defense limited Penn College to just one shot the entire contest.
The Lions finished with 27 shots and had an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Taylor Gonzales finished with 11 saves in goal for the Wildcats.
