Poly Uses Strong Second Half to Knock Off PCT

MARCY, N.Y. – SUNY Poly downed Penn College 87-72 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Sunday. Penn College fell to 2-11 NEAC, 3-19 overall, while Poly improved to 12-2, 16-7.

Robert Young Jr. paced PCT with 20 points, and Spencer Bartron and Ryan Lockman both finished with 13 points. Jesse White and Erik Perry Jr. both netted nine points, and White finished with a team-high nine rebounds.

Kevin Williams scored a game-high 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Poly and Redell Freeman finished with 19 points.

Poly built a 15-4 lead early in the game before Penn College answered with a 15-2 run to take a 19-17 lead on Young's three ball with 12:51 left in the first. PCT took its largest lead, 27-21, on Lockman's layup with 8:29 left but Poly netted nine straight to lead 30-27 two minutes later. After four more ties, Poly went into the break ahead 44-43.

Poly held a two-possession lead in the opening 10 minutes of the second half before gradually building its lead to double digits in the final five minutes of the game.

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 6 p.m., hosting Keuka.
