WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College slugged it out with North Division leaders SUNY Poly, before dropping a 67-61 decision in the season finale Saturday's North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball contest in Bardo Gymnasium. Poly improved to 14-2 NEAC, 18-7 overall, while Penn College fell to 2-14, 3-22.
Robert Young Jr. led all scorers with 22 points, on 7 of 15 shooting.
Spencer Bartron finished with 11 points,
Ben Sosa added nine points, and
Ryan Lockman scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Jesse White pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Kevin Williams paced Poly with 20 points, while Malik Johnson and Frank Reali both finished with 10.
Penn College jumped out to a 9-2 lead, following Bartron's three with 15:21 left in the first half. Poly answered with 14-2 run to take a 16-11 advantage five minutes later. Penn College pulled within three, twice, before Poly led 31-23 at halftime.
Poly led by as many as 11, 49-38, with 11:09 left in the game before PCT made it a one-point game, 54-43, on a Young free throw with just over three minutes left. Poly sank 6 of 10 free throws in the final 1:24 to ice the game.
