Penn College 1-3 to Start Spring Break Trip

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Penn College began its Myrtle Beach trip going 1-3 in its first four games. The Wildcats knocked off Mt. Aloysius 8-6, and fell to Cedar Crest 11-3, The Sage Colleges 4-2, and Eureka College 5-4.

Against Mount Aloysius,
Penn College put up four runs in the second inning following a one-run double from Taylor Krow and a two-run double by Taylor Brooks. An error plated the fourth run. MAC tacked on two runs in third and four in the fourth to take a 6-4 lead.

A wild pitch in the fourth pulled PCT within one, 6-5, before Chelsea Gray's single in the fifth tied the game and Elizabeth Asher's two-run single in the sixth gave Penn College the lead for good.

Brooks started the game and threw 3.1 innings, scattering four hits, striking out seven and walk five. Kassidy Svenson relieved Brooks in the fourth, and allowed two hits and earned her first win this season.

Against Cedar Crest,
The Falcons scored five runs in the third and one in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.

The Wildcats added three in the fifth after an error and a passed ball, and Asher hit a single to the right side to score the third run.

Cedar Crest added five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Alyssa Gentile and Asher led Penn College at the plate with two hits each. Morgan Heritage took the loss after four innings, giving up six hits, allowing six runs (four earned), with two strikeouts and one walk.

Against the Sage Colleges,
The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in third and Sage added a run in the next four innings.

Krow and Tiana McCormick each had a pair of hits for Penn College and Kassie Winters had the lone RBI for PCT.

Kelsea Dangle threw a complete game, allowing four runs on nine hits, with three strikeouts and two walks.

Against Eureka,
Maddie Wenk's single to center in the first gave Penn College a 1-0 lead before Eureka tied the game in the second. Gray's double in the third made it 2-1 before EC answered in the fifth to even the game at 2-2.

Penn College took a 3-2 lead in in the sixth after a Brooks single and made it 4-2 on Gentile's double to right in the seventh.

Eureka walked off in the seventh with three runs.

McCormick finished with three hits for Penn College, and Gray and Brooks each had two hits.

Heritage took the loss after 6.1 innings, allowing nine hits, five runs, four strikeouts, and five walks.
