Wildcats Split with Cazenovia
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. – Penn College split a North Eastern Athletic Conference softball doubleheader against Cazenovia Sunday. Penn College fell, 8-0, in the first contest and won, 9-0, in the nightcap. Penn College improved to 5-7 NEAC, 11-17 overall.
In game one,
Cazenovia scored all eight of its runs in the first inning and scattered five Penn College hits.
Kylie Shreiner picked up two hits for PCT.
Taylor Brooks fell to 1-3 after just two-thirds of an inning pitched. She allowed five earned runs, on one hit, with one strikeout and two walks.
Kassidy Svenson relieved Brooks in the first and went 3.1 innings, with three runs, on seven hits, with one strikeout.
In game two,
PCT rebounded in the second game and set the tone with four runs in the first inning.
Chelsea Gray's single plated the first run,
Morgan Heritage brought in a pair with a single, and an error made it 4-0.
Alyssa Gentile smacked a double in the second to make it 5-0 and an error gave PCT a 6-0 lead.
Laycee Clark drew a bases loaded walk in the fourth to make it 7-0 and an error allowed two more run to cross home.
Brooks picked up her 100
th career hits with two knocks in the game, while Shreiner and Gentile also picked up two hits.
Heritage improved to 6-5 after five innings of shutout pitching. She scattered three hits, struck out nine, and walked one.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday hosting Wells College.
