READING, Pa. – Penn College was knocked out of the North Eastern Athletic Conference softball playoffs, following a 4-0 loss to Penn State Berks and a 5-2 setback to Wilson College.
The Wildcats finished the season at 14-21.
Against Berks,
The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held Penn College to four hits in the game. Berks tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the fifth.
Elizabeth Asher led Penn College at the plate with two hits.
Morgan Heritage fell to 8-8 after a complete-game effort. She allowed four runs, on eight hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.
Against Wilson,
The Phoenix began with a 1-0 lead in the third before an error in the fourth scored
Alyssa Gentile to even the score at 1-1. Wilson added a run in the fourth and fifth, and two in the sixth inning to lead 5-1.
The Wildcats added their final run when
Kylie Shreiner scored
Kristina Holland on a single.
Penn College totaled eight hits, led by Holland's three hits, but stranded five base runners.
Kassie Winters fell to 2-5 after six innings in the circle. She allowed five runs (two earned) on nine hits, with zero strikeouts and two walks.
