LANCASTER, Pa. – Lancaster Bible used a strong third quarter to edge Penn College, 55-49, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 1-19 overall, 0-11 NEAC, while the Chargers improved to 5-15, 3-8.
Maci Ilgen led Penn College with 11 points, and
Tori Wolfe and
Kaylah Brown both finished with nine points.
Ja'Quela Dyer grabbed team-high 13 rebounds and added eight points for the Wildcats.
Caitlin Hickey paced LBC with a game-high 16 points, Becca Lucente added 11, and Courtney Goyak finished with 10.
Penn College erased a seven- point deficit in the first quarter and tied the game at 11-11 on Wolfe's three with 3:24 left. Dyer's layup with 45 seconds on the clock put the Wildcats ahead 14-13 after the first. The Chargers built a five-point lead early in the second but PCT rallied to tie the game just before halftime on another Dyer layup.
LBC used a 19-6 third quarter to 45-32 heading into the fourth. Penn College rallied in the fourth in the get as close as two, 51-49, on a Wolfe free throw with 1:04 remaining but the Chargers held on in the final minute.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting SUNY Cobleskill.
