COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Penn College completed its weekend sweep with a 5-1 win over SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer match Sunday. The Wildcats won their second straight and fourth consecutive NEAC contest, to improve to 5-2 NEAC, 6-6-1 overall, while the Tigers fell to 1-5-1, 3-10-1.
How it Happened:
Kaelan Cronan gave Penn College a 1-0 lead with an 18-yard blast in the 15
th minute before the Tigers evened the match in the 27
th minute, which to led to a 1-1 halftime score.
Cronan put the Wildcats ahead for good when she headed in
Tiffany Brown's corner kick in the 49
th minute.
Abby Williams made it 3-1 after she converted a penalty kick in the 50
th minute, and
Morgan Brooks went back-to-back in the 65
th and 89
th minutes. Brooks' first scored off of Dominque Brown's cross to the weak side, and netted her second on
Miya Roman's pass.
Inside the Box: Penn College outshot Cobleskill 33-9 and held 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Taylor Gonzales and
Charlee Marshall both pick up a save in goal for the Wildcats. Marshall's stop came on a penalty kick in the 74
th minute.
Outside the Box:
Dominique Brown picked up her team-leading fifth assist of the season, and her 23
rd point of the season, which is sixth in the NEAC
"The second day of a back-to-back weekend is challenging both physically and mentally. After a slow start, we were able to find the energy and urgency to put the ball in the net," said Penn College coach
Christa Matlack. "We are proud of the response in the second half, and the team effort to put the game away."
