WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Abby Williams buried a penalty kick in the 87th minute to secure a 1-0 win over Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday at UPMC Field. The Wildcats improved to 3-2 NEAC, 4-5-1 overall, while the Chargers dropped to 2-3, 6-6
How it happened: With 2:18 remaining in the match, Lancaster Bible fouled in the box and setup a penalty kick opportunity for the Wildcats. Abby Williams capitalized on the chance with a shot to the far left to break the scoreless deadlock.
Penn College's offense was aggressive in the first half but couldn't move one of its eight shots past the line. The Wildcats put three balls on frame in a 10 minute span, but attempts from Ashley Donat, Francesca Timpone, and Tiffany Brown were stopped, while later shots from Timpone and Morgan Feeley also found the hands of LBC's keeper.
Penn College keeper Taylor Gonzales was likewise stellar in an eight-minute flurry in the second half when she turned away three LBC shots.
Inside the box: The Wildcats outshot LBC 13-8, and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Gonzales finished with five saves for the Wildcats.
Outside the box: Williams picked up her second goal this season and Gonzales earned her third shutout this season.
Up Next: Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 7 p.m., hosting Susquehanna.
