READING, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 6-0 decision to Penn State Berks in the North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer semifinals Saturday. The Nittany Lions improved to 14-6, while the Wildcats wrapped up their season at 10-9-1.
Berks will play in its eighth-straight NEAC Championship game Sunday against Penn State-Harrisburg.
How it happened: Berks scored three goals in the first half and tacked on three more in the second. The Lions scored in the 14th, 15th, and 35th minutes to lead 3-0 at halftime, and added goals in the 45th, 48th, and 60th minutes.
Penn College had three of its four shots on goal in the first half, but attempts from Kaelan Cronan, Tiffany Brown, and Miya Roman were saved. Cronan's attempt in the 48th minute was also stopped, and Penn College did not fire a shot on frame the remainder of the contest.
Inside the Box: Berks peppered Penn College with 32 shots and held the Wildcats to five, while holding a 20-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Lions picked up eight corner kicks, while Penn College didn't pick up any corner kicks.
Taylor Gonzales turned away 13 shots in goal for Penn College.
Outside the Box: Saturday marked Penn College's fourth-straight trip to the NEAC semifinals, including a 2017 championship appearance.
