WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College made a late run but it wasn't enough as Gallaudet held on for a 77-74 win in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats wrapped up their season at 2-14 NEAC, 3-22 overall, while the Bison improved to 7-9, 7-18.
Spencer Bartron finished the final game of his career with a team-high 17 points, while
Anthony Deitrick finished with 14, and
Elijah Vazquez added 12.
Noah Valencia scored a game-high 26 points for GU and Steve Valencia finished with 19.
Penn College erased a seven-point deficit in the first half and took a 28-27 lead on
Trey McCullough's layup with 5:36 before halftime. The lead changed two more times and the game was tied for a final time, 32-32, on a Matt Salvent layup with 2:32 on the clock before Gallaudet ended the half with an 11-2 run to lead 43-34 at halftime.
Gallaudet built its lead to 18, 66-48, with 8:34 left in the game but Penn College clawed back with a 16-3 run to get within four, 68-64, on a
Carson Garvis layup with 2:15 left. The Wildcats managed to get as close as three, 78-75, after three Bartron free throws with four seconds left but PCT couldn't get any closer.
