MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 13-9 decision to Penn State Harrisburg in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 2-9, while the Nittany Lions improved to 14-4-1.
Harrisburg took an early 4-1 lead after two innings, with Penn College's run coming in the top of the second when
Brittan Kittle launched a solo home run to left field.
The Lions tacked on three in the fifth and one in the seventh, while Penn College picked up a run in the seventh, five in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Alex Flicker's single in the seventh made it 7-2 and his three-run double to right in the eighth followed
Colton Riley's RBI single to make 8-6.
Clark Jackson made it a one-run game, 8-7, in the eighth on a fielder's choice.
After the Lions matched Penn College's five runs in the bottom of the eighth, Flicker and
Ethan Ketterman brought in a run in the top of the ninth.
Flicker finished with three hits and five RBIs, Riley notched three hits, and Kittle finished with two for the Wildcats.
Nathan Holt fell to 1-2 after starting the first two innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits with one strikeout and one walk.
Devon Sanders was hitless after two innings of work with a strikeout.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting Lancaster Bible at Central Columbia High School.
