Wildcats Suffer Setback at LBC, 3-0

Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn College battled Lancaster Bible College in a NEAC women's volleyball match Saturday morning, with LBC winning the game, 3-0. The Wildcats dropped to 1-10 on the season, 0-2 NEAC, while LBC improved to 6-7 overall, 2-0 NEAC.

How It Happened: Penn College dropped three straight sets to the Chargers: 25-10, 25-12, 25-21.    The Wildcats got down 13-3 in the first set and were unable to recover as LBC cruised to take the opening set 25-10.  With several injured players, the Wildcats were forced to mix their lineups and eventually started to find their groove as they battled back in the second set before making the third set the most competitive one of the match.

Outside the Box: The Wildcats struggled through yet another line-up change when Savanna Slough went down halfway through the second set with an injury.  Sami Boucher returned to action, replacing Slough, and held her own to give a spark off the bench for the Wildcats.

Head Coach Bambi Hawkins commented after the game, "These games have been a puzzle trying to move players around to different spots.  Today, we moved Emalie [Marnati] back to middle hitter where she was able to spark a few points off of blocking."  The Wildcats have shown glimpses of hope throughout the season despite the game results.  "Even with the injuries, we have been able to compete, if not win, in several sets in each of our matches.  I'm proud of our ladies for adapting to each game, which has meant for a majority of them to play a different position than what they are accustomed to.  While Kylee Butz continued her role as the kills leader, Abbigale Mingus was a steady force all-around as the line-up changes were threatening to shake things up for our ladies", said Hawkins.

Up Next: Penn College returns to action when they travel to face Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 PM.
