AURORA, N.Y. – Penn College let a 12-point second half lead slip away in an 84-80 loss to Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 7-18 overall, 5-11 NEAC, while the Express wrapped up their season at 5-20, 4-12.
How it Happened:
Damon Kreider's layup with 11:41 left in the game put Penn College ahead 63-51, before Wells erased the deficit with a 15-3 run to tie the game at 66 with 6:09 on the clock. The Wildcats took their final lead, 72-68, on
Elijah Vazquez' three with 4:51 but Wells answered with a 9-3 spurt to take the lead for good.
Penn College led the entire first half, taking their largest advantage, 29-15, on
Ben Sosa's trey with 9:33 before halftime. The Express chipped away at Penn College's lead by outscoring the Wildcats 21-9 to end the half down, 38-36.
Inside the Box: Sosa scored a game-high 23 points, Vazquez added 22, and
Carson Garvis finished with 13.
Anthony Nesci also scored 23 for Wells.
