Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit to force overtime, but fell 4-3 to Penn State Altoona in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday evening. The Wildcats dropped to 4-7 on the season while the Lions improved to 5-5 overall.
How it Happened: Penn College struck first when
Ashley Donat netted the first goal of the game on an assist from
Teagan Willey in the 5th minute as the Wildcats jumped to an early 1-0 lead. The Lions responded with two goals to take a 2-1 halftime lead.
Penn College came out aggressive in the second half as
Cassie Johnson tied the game at 2-2 off a rebound on the left post. Altoona bounced back quick with a goal of their own less than three minutes later to regain the lead. With time against them, the Wildcats forced overtime as Johnson netted her second goal of the game with a shot from beyond the 20-yard mark in the 88th minute.
The Lions scored the deciding goal of the match in overtime to clinch the win, 4-3.
Inside the Box: The Lions outshot Penn College, 23-11, and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Nicole Lichtinger picked up 12 saves in goal for the Wildcats.
