Wildcats Fall to Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games to Penn State Abington Monday. The Wildcats lost 11-5 and 10-4 and fell to 7-11.

In game one
How it Happened: Jacob Carles and Tyler Rudolph picked up first inning RBIs to give Penn College an early 2-0 lead before the Lions added five in the first and three in the second to take the lead for good, 8-2.  Rudolph added another RBI in the third, Jake Wagner brought in a run in the fourth and Carles plated his second run in the sixth.

Inside the Box: Shane Price led Penn College's offense with three hits, while Carles, Rudolph, and Brian Robison each finished with two hits.

Joel Verrico fell to 0-1 on the mound after three innings of work. He allowed nine earned runs, on six hits, with five strikeouts and 10 walks.

In game two
How it Happened: Christian Perna's single in the second evened the game at 1-1 before Abington added a pair in the bottom of the frame to lead 3-1. Rudolph's single in third pulled the Wildcats within one, 3-2, but the Lions answered again with four straight runs to lead 7-2 in the fourth. Price and Drake Mankey brought in runs in the fifth inning, while Abington plated three more runs.

Inside the Box: Carles, Mankey, and Jake Wagner each picked up a pair of hits for Penn College.

Evan Nagy fell to 1-1 after four innings on the mound. He surrendered seven runs, on eight hits, with three strikeouts and four walks.
