WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College stayed perfect on the season with a double header sweep of Penn State Harrisburg. Penn College improves to 4-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a 10-2 game one win and a 7-2 game two win. Penn State Harrisburg drops to 0-5-1 overall and 0-4 in NEAC play.
In game one,
How it Happened: After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the 1st inning, Penn College went on to score four runs during their first at-bats of the game. Jaylnn Cochran hit a two RBI double to left in the inning and
Lesley Fritz had a RBI single plating another run. Penn College tacked on four runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to extend their lead to 8-2. Penn College put the game away in the bottom of the 6th inning when they were able to plate two runs thanks to two bases loaded walks by Penn State Harrisburg pitcher Courtney Fleisher.
Inside the Box: Penn College scored eight runs in the first two innings.
Jordan Specht had three hits, scored two runs and had one RBI.
Maddie Hurst and
Lesley Fritz both added a pair of hits with Hurst scoring two runs and Fritz knocking in three RBI's.
Kyla Benner picked up her second win of the season going six innings of seven-hit ball allowing one earned running and striking out four batters.
In game two,
How it Happened: Penn College jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks in part to RBI singles from
Ivvy Morder and Fritz. After the Nittany Lions made it a one run game in the top of the 4th the Wildcats came back with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to extend their lead to 6-2.
Olivia Hemstock had the big base-hit in the inning a two-run double to center. The Wildcats tacked on another run in the sixth inning and
Kassidy Svenson held the Nittany Lions in check on the mound over the final three innings as Penn College won game two 7-2.
Inside the Box:
Shayla Bickel and
Olivia Hemstock paved the way for the Wildcats offense in game two as they had two hits a piece. Svenson notched her second win of the season pitching a complete game three hitter allowing two runs (zero earned) while striking out one.
